Ron Burgandy is back with his news team only this time it's the beginning of the 1980's. He has moved to New York to read the news with his now wife, Veronica Corningstone. While she is at the top of her A-Game, the boss doesn't think Ron is, so he is subsequently let go. His life now in a shambles, he finds a man who is willing to help him by giving him a spot on a new 24 hour news network, but he wont be able to do it alone, so he assembles his team (Sadly without a horn) and they are paired against a charismatic new TV anchor, Jack Lime (Lame) to see who can be the best anchor of the new station!

That's basically as far as it really goes in terms of plot for this movie. I never thought a movie could get even stupider than the first one. I mean the first is one of the dumbest fucking films on earth but it does something that many dumb movies can't, it makes me laugh my bollocks off. And after surgery to have them put back, it does it yet again! It's a movie chocked to the brim of genius quotes and comedy and is just a comfortable movie to watch. You're guaranteed to be in a great mood the whole time during and after. But I then began to worry... a sequel was coming and we are now in a time when sequels haven't done themselves any favours. Kick-Ass was a quality movie, hilarious in parts, thrilling and genuinely frightening due to it's protagonist NOT being invincible. It was (to a certain degree) realistic, though over the top and silly in parts. Then came it's sequel where they abandoned any kind of fear or realism and just went for all out BULLSHIT stupidity. Film ruining stupidity, it was absolutely atrocious. Same goes for Machete. Now I know that film wasn't realistic by any stretch but it was a SOMEWHAT reasonable plot with some over the top violence. The second one just dropped the charm of the first and tried to out do itself with every scene by making it more and more stupid and it destroyed it. I'm rambling here...

The main point is, I was worried Anchorman 2 would do the same as those hunks of rectal discharge. And it did... it amp'ed up the stupidity by 100% and made it far, FAR more ridiculous... but here's the catch... it didn't lose the charm and it remained absolutely hilarious. It was almost at sketch show level of idiocy at some points, literally showing you the most utterly pointless and stupid segments ever, but they were funny! And really that's what the first was like, but not quite on this scale. It served as a fine companion and even contained some hysterically funny subtle jokes. One scene of the gang reading Garfield and literally screaming laughing with tears in their eyes will make you do the same. Even scenes from the trailer that didn't look that funny actually translated fucking hilariously in the full film. There are moments that wont get laughs but those are made up for, mere seconds later with absolutely gut wrenching laughs. This movie delivered where those other two pieces of shit didn't. It stayed true to itself but expanded drastically on it's stupidity. In ways the characters were parodies of themselves, Brick literally lost every single brain cell in his head in this and he was paired up with, as I like to call her, Girl Brick, played by Kristen Wiig. Their on-screen chemistry was fucking hilarious. This is a total no-brainer movie, it's one to watch with a bunch of your mates on a Friday night with a crate of cans by your side. Even sober it's hysterical. It's not as funny as the first, but it's definitely just as enjoyable. My only real qualm is that they got that fucking pillock Kanye West in for a cameo, I shan't reveal anymore cameos so don't worry, I just revealed his because it was no secret, he was all over the internet news about how much of a total fuck-head he was on set. Regardless, this film is tremendous fun and you'd have to be a pretentious gee-bag or a plain old fun sponge to not like it.
