IMDb

Larry David plays himself yet again in a made for TV comedy from the trustworthy folk over at HBO. Clear History follows Nathan, a moany fucker much the same as Larry David is in general, and always will be... only this time he's exactly like The Dude Lebowski He is part of the biggest electrical car company in America alongside Will Haney played by Jon Hamm. They invent the perfect car and when the name for the car is revealed, The Howard, Nathan thinks it's absolutely shit and will completely jeopardise any chance of sales. Himself and Hamm part on bad terms and Nathan is fired from the company keeping his minimal pride. Turns out, Howard is a big hit and literally earns everyone involved with it a BILLION dollars. Sending Nathan into shameful hiding. Time travel 10 years later and we see he's under a new persona, that of a man named Rolly, looking like his usual self again. He's loved in the new town he lives in by everyone. But when a new house owner moves in down the street, it literally shits on his quiet life. Good ol' Will is back! And instead of letting him ruin his second life, he goes for revenge!

HBO and Larry nail it again, this was absolutely fucking hysterically funny. Following the same format as Curb Your Enthusiasm, where they would simply come up with a scene and improvise all the dialogue which allowed them to come up with absolutely brilliant scenarios and quotes. Larry continues to play his pain in the arse self. Complaining left and right over minor, but every day things. Which is what makes him such a hero really, he complains about the shit that seems to minimal that we don't bother, but he's always right! One of his on-going complaints in this is that a waitress in his local restaurant simply refuses to place knives and forks on a napkin, forcing him to clean his utensils in a glass of water, it drives him mental throughout and brings endless enjoyment to us! Jon Hamm does great in this too, though he's actually fairly small in the movie. It's more about Nathan's friends and Will's wife, played by Kate Hudson, who I simply forgot about and was shocked to see her 13 years older from Almost Famous! There's plenty of comedy talent in this, including a Curb regular, J.B. Smoove, who is basically a mean Leon in this. Still saying mother fucker in the funniest way possible. Danny McBride and Bill Hader join also. Michael Keaton is near unrecognisable in this, I was scratching my head in wonder till I just caved and googled him. Liev Schreiber had a fun role too as a Chechen criminal, who owns a Howard that Nathan drove into, leaving him to constantly stalk Nathan throughout looking for a ridiculous amount of money. I recently discovered he is uncredited too, apparently due to his involvement with Showtime, who are HBO's rivals. Whether it's HBO being the cunts or Showtime, I'm not sure but it's absolutely ridiculous! It's still a credit, it doesn't matter who he works with!! Anyway, this is tremendously good fun and especially good to those who enjoy Larry David's other stuff.
